Tempo Doeloe – AmsterdamPosted: June 20, 2010
After arriving in Amsterdam by train, we asked our concierge for restaurant recommendations, describing our tastes, and quest for new experiences. We knew we wanted to go to Five Flies (see next entry) but we were very open for others. He recommended an Indonesian restaurant called Tempo Doeloe. Most people seemed to be ordering these mini-multi-course dinners, so we did too. The meal starts with a skewered chicken with peanut sauce, then continues with 10 different tastes, served with 2 different rices. Variety of spiciness was good, and they let you know how to build up to the spiciest. We didn’t find the spiciest dishes all that spicy. We ordered a house wine, a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile.
The dessert was coconut ice cream with fresh fruit. This was the perfect end to this type of meal.
