“Elvis Lives” Sandwich

Elvis loved fried peanut butter sandwiches.  On a recent episode (about sandwiches) on United Tastes of America on the Cooking Channel, host Jeffrey Saad visits Lafitte’s in San Francisco, where chef Russell Jackson shows him the “Elvis Lives” sandwich.

For you, dear readers, I have hunted down the recipe (May 2011 issue of Chef Magazine) which calls for jelly made from Sauternes wine (but I understand that they sometimes use Moscato), foie gras, bacon, crunchy peanut butter but no bananas.  On TV, this looked great, although I’m not sure I can get my hands around foie gras with peanut butter and jelly.

Inspired, this morning I made fried almond butter, banana and jelly (Bon Maman Strawberry) on Whole Wheat bread.  It was delicious!
