Tips for Serving Cheese
Posted: October 11, 2011 Filed under: Cooking and Recipes Leave a commentWe all love to serve cheese, but are we doing it right? A great post today on What’s Cookin has 5 tips to serving cheese, which include:
Serve an odd number
Serve a variety of flavors and milk types
Layout from mildest to strongest (so people can progress through the flavors).
Serve at room temperature
Add the right accompaniments. I use almonds, crackers, dried fruit, and sometimes olives and salami.
I’ll add tip #6: be careful with the wine. Some wines go well with cheeses; others don’t. Ask your cheese merchant and wine merchant for advice. A cheese tasting and a wine tasting are different. Don’t mingle them together. Wine tastings shouldn’t have the distraction of very distinctive cheese. Just find something you already like to swill with your cheese tasting!
