Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen – Old Town Orange Secret!

There is no sign on the front.  You have to know it is there (on South Glassell, just below the circle, across from Haven Gastro Pub).  Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen is owned by Gabbi Patrick, and me and my crew loved it!

Several of us started with Blood Orange Caipirinhas.  They have a creative drink menu featuring the usual Margarita selection, but also Sangria, interesting martinis and other creative cocktails.

We had Queso Fundido with Chorizo and delicious freshly made tortillas, and Guac and chips as starters.

Entrees include the traditional dishes, like chicken enchiladas, chile relleno, and steak tacos, but they also have Enmoladas en Mole Negro  -Duck Confit in Nixtamal Tortillas with Mole Negro sauce, and Crepas de Langosta y Cangrejo  – Lobster and Crab Crepes in pipian verde sauce & creme fraiche.  These were really creative and delicious.

We were all stuffed, but we just had to order Valrhona Chocolate Churros with housemade vanilla bean ice cream.  Eye-rollingly good.  Like molten chocolate cake, fried!  Makes me want to own a churro extruder and a deep fryer!

A little on the expensive side for Mexican Food, but worth it, and we will go back!

Mark–Gabbi’s is the first place on my list to visit when I get to OC. My cousin introduced us to Gabbi’s 3 years ago and I just love their interpretation of dining!
