Paul Martin’s American Grill – Irvine

Tried Paul Martin’s American Grill in Irvine Spectrum Center today for the first time and was wildly impressed.  The decor is elegant, the servers are smart and cheery, and the farm-to-table menu has many wonderful foods I wanted to try.

We started with one of their more popular appetizers, the Salt & Pepper Wild Prawns, buttermilk battered with tarragon aioli.  Freshest tasting shrimp appetizer I’ve had in a long time.

I continued with the Fresh Fish Tacos with handmade flour tortillas, grilled pineapple salsa, tomato relish, cilantro, lemon.  Made with fresh salmon, these were quite possibly the best fish tacos I’ve ever had.  The vibrancy of flavors made me think of when I stopped smoking and could really taste things again! (MANY years ago).

We saw a huge basket of sweet potato fries go by, and asked if we could have a small portion, but alas, they don’t do half-sides.

My lunch buddy had half sandwich with soup, the house smoked roast turkey, and a wild mushroom soup.  Both were great.

We were so full, we had to decline the dessert menu, but we will definitely be back at this great restaurant.
